 EVERYDAY'S A ‘BRING YOUR OWN BAG’ DAY
Don’t think bringing your own recycled bag to a shopping mall is not cool. Doing so will make our earth a cleaner and better place for us and our future. Sunway Pyramid is launching its ‘Bring Your Own Bag’ (BYOB) campaign!
The ‘Go Green’ initiative by the trendy shopping mall is everyday, beginning in April ’09. Taking small steps like this is testament that Sunway Pyramid is all out in its environmental efforts.Don’t think bringing your own recycled bag to a shopping mall is not cool. Doing so may just land yourself with a ‘free parking’ at Sunway Pyramid; under the ‘Bring Your Own Bag’ (BYOB) campaign!
By bringing their own bag, shoppers will reduce the number of bags needed to take home their goods such as groceries, toys, technological gadgets, stationeries, packed food or presents.
Simple acts like this will not only save Mother Nature but also help shopping outlets reduce usage of bags to cart off goods sold.
In addition, Sunway Pyramid will be rewarding shoppers with free parking every Tuesday (except public holidays) for their green deed! To be entitled for it, shoppers need to bring their own bag (eco-friendly bags only while paper or plastic bags are not allowed) and purchase product-based goods worth a minimum of RM50. They then have to present their receipt to one of the Concierges and exchange their parking ticket for a free ticket.
The main message of the campaign is not solely about the mall going green for the long-term, but that its shoppers take ownership and do their part for Mother Nature.
“It is imperative that we must take cognisance of the environmental issues faced and the need for proactive action to arrest it,” remarks Kevin Tan, General Manager of Leasing and Marketing, Sunway Pyramid. “We are making a commitment to proactively preserve it for a sustainable future.”
As for shoppers without a bag to shop with, look out for stylish BYOB bags launching in May ‘09. Shoppers can buy for themselves, friends or loved ones, to be used proactively.
 “We are pushing on with many efforts and sacrifices to ensure the success of the campaign,” admits Kevin Tan. “I am confident that sowing seeds of awareness today will cultivate a harvest of green habits tomorrow.”
Let it begin today. The next time you sling that unfashionable bag around your arm, doesn’t matter if your friends ridicule your image. Going green is the new chic look and Mother Nature approves of it. Otherwise, just buy a BYOB bag!
